Bodybuilding and Breast Implants

One of the downsides to women that engage in any type of body building is the loss of breast tissue because most of the breast make up is body fat. Many of these body builders are turning to help from their plastic surgeons and opting to have breast implants surgically placed.

A concern that many women body builders have is about the placement of the breast implants. Most plastic surgeons will suggest that the breast implant be placed under the pectoral muscle. This helps to hide the implant edges better since most women bodybuilders do not have a lot of stretch to the outer skin of their breasts.

Another concern of bodybuilders about the breast implants is the risk of rupturing the implant during their strenuous muscle work outs. While these complications can happen in any patient that has breast implants it isn’t a big probability.

Scars are another common concern among bodybuilders as they spend their lives making art out of their bodies. The plastic surgeons that perform breast surgery on bodybuilders tend to use only a couple types of incisions for the insertion of the breast implant. The most common of those incisions is in the inframammary fold that is located underneath the breast in the skins natural fold.

Some plastic surgeons will use a different incision in the arm pit region but this cut is further away from where the implant needs to be so many plastic surgeons pass on this one when placing implants in bodybuilders. Another almost scarless option that some qualified plastic surgeons use is through the navel area. They will make a small incision in the navel and use tubes to guide the breast implants into place. This however is again further away from where the implant needs to be so it is a bit trickier for the plastic surgeon to perform.

After a breast implant surgery most bodybuilders will be able to go back to their normal routines in just six weeks. This time frame depend solely on the persons own healing time and on their plastic surgeons recommendations
